Drifting along.....

....like a tumbling tumbleweed.

Last year, it was original, awe inspiring, even comical.

The attack of the tumbleweeds!!!!!!

Then it happened again. This year the attack was hard hit & yet again awe inspiring. But not in the least bit comical. At. All.

OK, luckily this is not our house, but our poor neighbors house, 4 doors down.

I came around the corner after a very blustery day at work and saw these killer tumbleweeds and a huddle of my neighbors looking at the damage (it had hit all down our street, with our house being the least affected and hers the worst).

I pulled up to the group of down trodden and said the only thing that I could say, which by the way, I knew it was the stupidest question at the time, but it really had to be said...

"Um, what are you going to do?"

In my mind I am thinking...

**Well, we could throw a match in that pile of natural accelerate , that would surely take care of them...but also her house too.

**If we tried to push them away, they would just come back...like a possessed boomerang.

**We could decorate them and pretend it is the "cool" way to landscape and use the back door from here on out.

Well, ultimately a group of great neighbors got together armed with rakes and trucks and gloves and loaded up all the tumbleweeds that came to rest on Summit Way and trucked them far away to an un-disclosed location.

But alas...another windy day yesterday.

So, with snow coming, Darrin and I slaved in the back yard, toting the pests back out to the field nested up against the back of our next door neighbors fence.

Later on that night, the wind shifted. It blew the tumbleweeds up over the fence, into our neighbors back yard.

Mind you, we really didn't ever think THAT would happen...it has always worked before. That darn wind just blew in an unsuspecting way.

So, after watching our neighbors put the weeds BACK over the back of the fence into the field (we apologized, they understood), we went to bed, satisfied.

*************
Darrin went out to his car this morning to go to work.

It was surrounded by tumbleweeds.

It's like some insane game of tag.

I guess we're it.

Weekend Fun

We had a great weekend.
We got up early on Saturday to attend the Draper temple open house. We went with Darrin's mom and dad, David, Betsy and Charlie, Cindy and Kyle, and Brady. The temple is so close to our house, I can't wait to be able to go do temple work there, but it was so great to be able to "tour" the temple and especially to see Remy and Tate take it all in. Everything, of course, was so beautiful.

We went in at the end to a sealing room and sat down while a couple talked about families being together forever. As we were leaving we were showing Remy how there were two mirrors on opposite sides of the room, creating the eternal reflection. Darrin was holding Tate and I had picked Remy up to show him. It was such a special moment for our little family to be there in the sealing room looking towards eternity. It was great to be there with Darrin's family too. I have grown to love them so very much and my love grows as the family multiplies and new outlaws are added and sweet little cousins are born.

We finished our classic Mormon experience off with a lunch at Chuck-a-Rama for Darrin's mom's birthday. Becky, Jeff and Cody joined us there. We enjoyed the fried chicken and scones and honey butter.

Remy, Brady, Kyle, Cindy, Darrin, Tate, Mike, Ruth, David and Charlie (Where's Betsy?)

Here she is!

The Boys LOVED riding the bus! Here is Tate with Cindy and Kyle.

Brady, looking suave!

Mmmmm, fried Chicken!

Later on that night we went to the new Beto's in Saratoga Springs (yea!!!) The boys both love steak, and I noticed they had this on their kids menu:

Carne Asada Fries $2.99

I thought, wow, Steak and Fries. Can't beat that! So I ordered it.
When it came I opened it up and it was a load of french fries with cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and Carne Asada. It looked so good to me, but would the boys eat it?

I picked out the Carne Asada and put it in a tortilla to make a burrito for Remy which he LOVED and I was going to do the same for Tate...but he slid the box over in front of him, grabbed a fork and dug in.

That's my boy.

He's actually saying "Cheese" in this picture...he looks disgusted though :)

Last but not least, the boys have been sleeping together, so here is a picture of them tonight.

I swear, Tate is a heat seeking missile.

Wonderful Interview

This past weekend Darrin and I watched an interesting video featuring Rachel Esplin, a 20-year old Mormon at Harvard get grilled about her religion by journalist Sally Quin. She handles each answer with intellect and coolness surprising for someone her age.

If you haven't seen it...enjoy

Bloggers Block

I am having bloggers block.

My brain is a great big fuzz ball.

Maybe it's Spring Fever?

It has gone straight to the ole' noggin. I am just in a daze.

I have this little part of my brain that is just trying it's hardest to get me de-fuzzed.

***you have a bill to pay!!*** ****you need to call the insurance company!!*** ***your child has been quiet downstairs for at least 5 minutes now!!!!!!!****

I just can't connect my responsible monologue with the action part of my brain.

This is the speed I am running at right now....

Just the other day, I was sitting in a day dream at the kitchen table, while my children were eating breakfast cereal and chatting away about the important things of the day...you know, if Horton really did hear a who, and who got finished with their cereal first...and my eye was caught by an amputee laying on my table.

Poor Lego guy.

Just legs and feet.

Abandoned on my kitchen table.

I remember my mom getting really upset because she was always stepping on Barbie shoes. I wonder how many Barbie high heel marks Mom had ingrained on her insole?

Me? I won't ever have the Barbie shoe impressionism. I have begun the Lego step fox trot. Man those little buggers hurt. I have the perfect rectangle bruise on my right instep to prove it.

What goes around, comes around, right mom?
